(See Mrs. Tonon’s email about scheduling a Google Hangout! Here is the video link she provided for class discussion during the Hangout: Why Do We Get Hiccups? )

I started a classroom on Manga High: Japhet Kindergarten. This is a educational math and coding website for schools. I started their first assignment for the class. All you have to do is click on the link below, then click on the assignment. Scroll down and click on their Math Ninja. You then put in their login, password and school code. (Login information not included here; see Mrs. Tonon’s email.) This is a fun and engaging way to do math and coding and not just paper work. Have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask!

Dear parents,

Given the current circumstances regarding health and wellness at our school, it is necessary to enforce some social distancing for the general well-being of our community. As I’m sure you’re aware, this is a new process for all of us. Some of the measures we are taking to support distance learning for our students have not been tried in practice before. We may have a period of adjustment that proves challenging. I hope that we can work in partnership to make this experience as smooth as possible for you and your child, so they can continue feeding their curiosity and still learning new things each day.

I will work around your schedule during school hours to help your child work on the packet I sent home Friday. I can either do this through Google hangout or FaceTime, whichever works best for you and your child.

I will be sending short science videos for your child to watch and learn fun science facts!

Here is the link to the first video for them to watch today:
Can Animals Laugh?

Please have them let me know what they thought the answer is before they watch it, and then what they thought of it after they finished. This can either be done with them wanting to tell me over FaceTime, Google hangout, or having you help them just write me a quick little email.

The goal is to keep your child learning as much as possible. Please feel free to contact me with any questions that you may have going forward. Any and all school updates will come to you from the Head of School.

Thank you, and let’s all be sure to be patient and gracious with one another during this challenging time!

As always, be well.

Warmly,
Leslie

Students learn best when they are engaged. We know that games are a great way to get students engaged! These games are intended to be used at home for additional practice:
