ABOUT JAPHET SCHOOL
Japhet School, founded in 1973, is an independent Preschool through 8th grade school for curious and engaged learners, located in Clawson, Michigan. Our mission is to nurture and prepare each child for life by integrating character education with a strong academic program. Thoughtfully designed leadership activities provide opportunities for public speaking, collaborative project-based learning, multi-age activities, and community service projects. The School is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS), is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) and the Association of Independent Michigan Schools (AIMS).
Admissions Director
We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic individual to join the Japhet team as an Admissions Director! The Director of Admissions is responsible for managing the school’s admission process from inquiry to integration into the school, overseeing all admission events, and working closely with the administrative team to promote the school in order to attract new families and retain current ones.
The Director of Admissions reports directly to the Head of School and is a member of the Administrative Team.
Required Qualifications: Minimum Bachelor’s degree
Required position responsibilities:

Direct and manage admission programs for recruitment, enrollment, and retention.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with constituents, including partner schools, community organizations, and professional consultants.

Plan and organize admission events and receptions for prospective students and families.

Manage the daily operations of the Admissions Office, including Snowman database, files, correspondence, and mailings.

Develop strategic goals and actions to achieve target enrollment.

Create, implement, and report on annual goals, objectives, and a plan of action for attracting and retaining students.

Remain current with Independent School Admissions and Marketing information.

Communicates with excellent writing and verbal skills, including the ability to present in front of large and small groups and communicate in a compelling manner on behalf of an organization. (Open Houses and Community Admissions Events)

Undertakes other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head of School.

Physical Education Teacher
Japhet School is seeking a physical education teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. We seek an experienced, talented, team-oriented candidate to design and deliver an enriched, developmentally appropriate physical education program for preschool – 8th grade students. This position reports directly to the Head of School.
Required Qualifications: Minimum Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior Teaching experience
- Experience working in Independent Schools
- Ability to exercise excellent judgment and decision making skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with colleagues, students, and families
- Well-organized, engaging, team player and who has the ability to interact joyfully with the school community
- Ability and commitment to furthering the mission and vision of the school
