Stepping Up, Digging Deep: 7/20/20

“I feel the capacity to care is the thing which gives life its deepest significance.” Pablo Casals

Truly, there are endless opportunities to express compassion and care for our friends, neighbors, and families. It’s important that we acknowledge the needs of others and are aware of how to serve them. I’m proud of Japhet School’s desire to help our students understand the importance of serving others. I’m hopeful that, as we begin our 2020-2021 school year in our building, we will have opportunities to continue to place the necessary emphasis on serving our community.

Which leads me directly into sharing with you about the beginning of our 2020-2021 school year.  Every school, whether public, private, or independent is putting great effort into a reopening plan for the school year. We are all facing the same questions and concerns regarding the health and safety of our school families and staff. However, each school will be unique and individual in their plans to best serve their communities. I am writing to assure you that a comprehensive reopening plan is forthcoming and will be released the week of July 27th. The final reopening plan will have been reached following extensive research to meet all health and safety requirements, input from faculty and staff, and a team of Japhet trustees and parents. More details will follow and I look forward to partnering with you to implement the opening of our school in the fall.

In closing, the Japhet School staff and faculty are indeed compassionate and caring towards our Japhet Community. These have proven to be challenging times for all of us — many of us affected in ways we would never have predicted. However, I understand this to be an opportunity for all of us to step up to the challenge and dig deep to find the compassion and outward expression to be the best we can be. There will be much asked of us to adjust to new regulations and procedures that will help us keep our students and staff safe and healthy. It will take all of us to join together and follow guidelines that will enable our teachers to do what they do best — continue to instruct our students in the classroom.
