Navigating Through a Challenging Time: 4/17/20

As this week marks the completion of four weeks of our distance learning program, I am reminded as to just how far we have progressed. On March 13th, when students left school and we said our goodbyes, not knowing when or if we’d return to school and regular schedules, students were reassured that their educational experiences would continue at Japhet School. Distance has not slowed our instruction and learning! Teachers have continued to be as committed and dedicated to their teaching and their students — and with great success! I have appreciated hearing from you in support of classroom activities and the continued mission of Japhet School. Your thoughts and comments are truly appreciated.

In support of our teachers and your child’s classmates, I have two requests that will greatly improve the distance learning experience. First, please support your child’s punctuality to all Hangouts. And second, please support your child’s focus — no cell phones, toys, or other non-educational objects should be used during Hangouts. Thank you very much for your efforts. 

We continue to help specialists’ endeavors to offer enriching instruction to your children, and we are adjusting procedures. Specialists now will be contacting parents directly — and students in Primary through Upper — relating to activities in special classes. Classroom teachers will automatically receive these communications so they are informed. I have attended many specialists’ classes and have been inspired to see the many creative ways they are teaching! Specialists’ classes are offered as options for Early Childhood. Participation in specialists’ classes is expected in Primary through Upper. Thank you for your patience and support as we continue on the path of improvement in every class.
