Gifts donated via Paypal are directed toward our annual fund. If you are giving your gift in honor of June Sebring, please let us know by clicking “Add a note.”
Like most private schools, tuition covers a portion of what it costs to educate each child at Japhet School. The remaining balance comes from donations, bequests, and grants. Japhet School is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization, which means your donation is tax-deductible. Multi-year givers at a higher level are members of our Hands of Hope Society, who are recognized with a special reception each fall.
If you can help Japhet School continue to live our mission and impact the lives of young people with a financial donation, please contact our Head of School Kerri Vizena at 248 585-9150 or via email at kerri.vizena@japhetschool.org.
Japhet School receives no support from local, state, or federal government and has two sources of operating income: tuition and contributions. The Annual Fund allows tuition to be offered at a level affordable to more families, rather than making tuition commensurate with the actual cost per student. Thus, the Annual Fund is critical in bridging the gap between tuition and annual operating expenses. These donations are spent within the fiscal year and are not used for building projects or major capital expenditures. The benefits of a fully funded Annual Fund are the ability to:
The goal of the Annual Fund is always 100% support from families, board, and staff. The level of support is a sign of the health of a school’s health, and we are grateful for every gift of every size.
Where capital campaigns build the future, Endowments ensure the future. Endowment gifts can be a variety of donated property — cash, stocks, bonds, real estate, and more — and ensure long-term support of Japhet School. Endowment is not used for day-to-day operations of the school. Rather, it is the assurance that future generations will inherit the mission of this educational opportunity.
Many of our donors choose to have a direct impact on our students’ lives by supporting Scholarship. Donations to Scholarship can support a fund that we use for need-based financial aid, or to a merit-based scholarship with grade and citizenship requirements. Some donors choose to honor an individual by sponsoring a scholarship in that person’s name.
Donate to Japhet in another person’s name and we will send your honored friend a written tribute appropriate to the occasion. It is the perfect present for the person who has everything, or a lovely memorial tribute in a person’s name. Contact us to set up a Tribute Gift.
Many companies have matching-gift programs that will match charitable contributions made by their employees. When giving to Japhet School, please request the necessary matching-gift forms from your employer and include them with your gift. Depending on the program, your gift could be doubled or even tripled!
Japhet School receives gifts of assets such as securities, real estate, and personal property. Often a gift of an appreciating asset offers tax benefits to the donor. Donors are advised to consult with their own legal, tax, or estate-planning professional when considering gifts other than cash.
You can bequeath the gift of character education to future generations by including Japhet School in your estate planning. To do so, consult your estate-planning professional.
We have silent auctions in February, May, and June. We are grateful to private donors and local companies who support these auctions with Gifts in Kind, which are physical items, gift cards, or gifts of services. To make such a donation, please contact us and provide this Gift-in-Kind Donation Form with your contribution.
We automatically acknowledge your gift with a Donor Receipt for your tax purposes. We mail receipts after fundraising events, and mail a full donation acknowledgment in January for the previous year.
Join us on the links at our annual golf outing at Western Golf and Country Club in Redford! It includes an 18-hole scramble, lunch and refreshments, dinner, awards reception, and silent auction in June. Be an event sponsor or sign up to golf. See all the details here: Fore the Kids Golf Outing.
This year our annual 18 Reasons for Hope event will be virtual! Stay tuned for more information on how to participate! Whether you are a long-time friend of Japhet or know little about us, supporting the “18 Reasons” event will make your day. What are the 18 Reasons? Our 18 character qualities.
The Benefit Dinner is similar to our 18 Reasons event in that it is free to attend and is led by inspirational speakers who have experienced the Japhet difference first-hand. It is a dinner event that is longer than one hour, and it is usually held at a private club.
To attend a Japhet School fundraising event or have a personal tour of the school, contact the school at 248 585-9150 or via email at kerri.vizena@japhetschool.org.
