On September 24, 2012 the Japhet community celebrated the beginning of the 2012/2013 school year with our traditional Parent Support Group (PSG) potluck supper. After a delicious meal, our Board of Trustees, shared their annual State of the School report. Cassandra Bing, Vice President of our Board of Trustees was our speaker this year. If you are interested in reading Cassandra’s moving words about the current state of our school and the Board of Trustees’ plans and vision for the future, we have posted it on our web site at: http://japhetschool.org/BoardofTrustees.shtml
I also spoke during our celebration. Here are the words that I shared:
Welcome and thank you for your support of Japhet School and our Parent Support Group.
The mission of Japhet School is to nurture and prepare each child for life by integrating character education with a strong academic program.
At the beginning of every school year each faculty and staff member commits to teaching and working in harmony with our mission and philosophy which define our unique approach to helping children grow.
One of our most important philosophy statements says,
“Education of children is a shared responsibility between the school, the family, and the community.”
Your presence here today shows your commitment to your children, their education, and the unique community that is Japhet School.
I am so glad each of you are here.
This year is an accreditation year for us. In November we will be hosting a Visiting Team from ISACS for three days. They will read our self-study, visit classrooms, and meet with parents, students, trustees, faculty and staff, to confirm that we are living our mission in all that we do.
I am looking forward to a wonderful year together!
