I was reading 8th-grade speeches from the past today, and found this one especially inspiring.
“Before I started attending Japhet, I used to sit at the same table with the same group of friends at lunch everyday. We all formed little groups of kids with the same likes and dislikes such as the ‘video game kids’ or the ‘football kids’ and we never really got to know anybody with any new or different ideas. Looking back I wonder if there was ever a person sitting at one of those other tables with whom I could have been really good friends, but I never bothered to venture beyond my own little group of like-minded people. Here at Japhet, we are all unique individuals. I am very grateful that Japhet has given me the chance to become friends with a great group of diverse people.” ~ 8th grade student 2007
Isn’t it wonderful to know that at age 12, the Japhet difference is felt and valued?
