One of the most frequently asked questions that new parents have is, “Where do students go to high school after Japhet?” And, “Do they adjust well after being in Japhet’s small environment?”
The answers: “Lots of places!” and, “Yes, absolutely!”
We strive to stay connected with our alumni and to enable them to connect with one another. This is easy to do, because so many of them return year after year to attend and volunteer at Japhet events. Our newsletter, published three times annually, always features an alumni article.
Japhet alumni attend a variety of high schools: independent, parochial, and public. Some of the high schools our alumni attend are:
We may not offer extra-curricular music or athletic programs, but that’s no obstacle for our alumni. Japhet alumni do very well in high school musical theatre, landing lead roles most recently at U of D Jesuit, Shrine, and Almont High School performances, and at University Liggett, Cranbrook and Royal Oak High School in previous years. Our students also achieve in competitive sports, to which they bring positive leadership and sportsmanship, as one Japhet alumna can testify: a 2005 Japhet graduate, she became captain of her high school varsity volleyball team and has accepted a scholarship from Principia College, while another recent graduate is headed to Albion College on a tennis scholarship. Japhet alumni are also involved on high school teams in basketball, football, lacrosse, soccer, hockey, track and cross-country.
With a strong foundation in academics, character, and leadership, Japhet alumni are well poised to enter college, many on scholarship. Some colleges and universities who have welcomed Japhet alumni include:
We also hear reports from around the globe of the travels of our alumni. For example, A 2003 Japhet graduate spent 2007 and 2008 as a Rotary International exchange student in Finland living with four different families. A 1996 Japhet graduate did a two-year internship with Porsche Automotive in Stuttgart, Germany while a 2002 Japhet graduate completed a semester abroad work study program in theatre writing and production in County Cork, Ireland. Most recently, a 2007 Japhet graduate was accepted into the Cairo American College high school program in Cairo, Egypt.
Japhet School's mission is to nurture and prepare each child for life by integrating character education with a strong academic program.
